reasonable availability to coordinate with Doing Good Digital and
participate in meetings during normal business hours, as mutually agreed
upon.
Services Requested
We are a boutique digital fundraising
agency for nonprofits and healthcare organizations. We are seeking a
freelancer to provide website development services for a short-term
period. The engagement is intended to supplement our existing
development capacity during one of our busiest times of the year.
The services requested will primarily
involve WordPress development, with room to own other builds if you have
the skills for them. Project assignments and priorities may vary
throughout the engagement based on client needs.
You will jump on calls, work through problems alongside Doing Good Digital staff, and pick things up as they come.
Deliverables
- Ongoing site maintenance and support – Keeping our
client sites healthy: core, plugin, and theme updates, post-update
testing, fixing bugs as they come up and documenting the updates. - WordPress builds and updates – Customizing and building blocks and templates, turning designs into working pages, and handling site changes.
- Other builds as they come up (if you have the skills to support) – Email builds, donation form builds, landing pages, bug fixes, and other dev or dev-adjacent work.
Ideal Experience
- Web development – Build and maintain responsive
websites, fundraising sites, donation forms, and web applications using
HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP.
- Ideally comfortable with WordPress Development, Luminate Online ( Teamraiser, Donation form, Surveys etc.), Engaging Networks (donation forms, Forms, Emails etc) and Email Development.
- Much of our work lives on older platforms and tools where modern
frameworks aren’t the right fit, so you need the ability to build the
old-fashioned way (like jQuery) when that’s what the job calls for.
- Retainer work – Work with project managers on
ongoing client needs: Ongoing support and bug fixes. updates,
improvements, and enhancements to existing sites and digital assets.
- Email development – Build HTML email templates and test them across email clients and devices.
- Testing and QA – Test your own work thoroughly before it goes to a client. Cross-browser, cross-device, and cross-client for email.
- Asana and Slack experience.
- AI – Comfortable working with Claude in day-to-day
dev work but having good judgment about when AI fits a task and when it
does not, and when to pull a human in.
- Project ownership – Take a task from assignment to done, with regular updates to your project manager, other developers as needed.
- Time management – Juggle competing deadlines across multiple clients, prioritize sensibly, and flag delays early rather than late.
- Communication – Clear written and verbal updates with the team in Asana and Slack. Comfortable jumping on calls and working with our team.
- Documentation – Keep code clean, commented, and current.
- Flexibility – Pitch in on QA, configuration, content migration, and other dev or dev-adjacent work as it comes up.
