I highly recommend setting up a template query so that you can import groups of records from Raiser’s Edge NXT to ResearchPoint.
That way you can do a Save As to this query and use it if you wish to import and/or group prospects together via queries and then successfully import them into ResearchPoint in order to obtain prospect research and analytics insights on a group of prospects. One of the things you need to ensure a query of constituents will successfully import into ResearchPoint via integration is making sure they all have a name and an address. Having a template query for this process helps it go smoothly.
First, below are a couple of helpful Knowledgebase Solutions to ensure you are all set with your Raiser's Edge NXT-ResearchPoint integration, and that you know the steps necessary to import queries of prospects created in Raiser's Edge NXT into ResearchPoint:
Here is what I would do with my template query in Raiser's Edge NXT in terms of setting it up. After you start your new query, be sure under Criteria that you add the following:
- Under Constituent folder on the left:
- First Name is not blank AND Last Name is not blank AND Key Indicator equals Individual AND
- Under Addresses folder on the left > Preferred Address sub-folder:
- AND Preferred Address Line not blank AND Preferred City not blank AND Preferred State not blank AND Preferred ZIP not blank
PRO TIP: As you start building your query criteria, be sure to uncheck the boxes at the top next to where it says, Include: Inactive constituents, Deceased constituents, and Constituents with no valid address.
Then below is what you should see under Criteria with the above query statement:
Next under the Output, be sure that you add the following, otherwise while trying to import your query of constituents, you will get an error message:
- Again, under Constituent folder on the left > System Record ID

Then be sure to save your query in a logical Category query folder, such as one titled, “ResearchPoint.” Perhaps you can create this Category folder before creating your new template query so can save this query to this folder from the outset, although you can move it to a Category folder later if you wish. From then on, any Raiser's Edge NXT query that you create related to records for import into ResearchPoint via integration will be organized and easy to find. See screenshot below for an example of a template Query name and Category folder to save it in:
Then in order to use this template query, you can simply click on the blue hyperlinked name of your template query on your query list and at the bottom of the query, simply click Save as so you do not overwrite your template query name. Be sure to name the query based on the commonality of those you wish to import into ResearchPoint via integration.
PRO TIP: Below are some recommended lists of prospects you may want to import into ResearchPoint via Raiser's Edge NXT integration for which you hope to obtain analytics and WealthPoint data:
- All current fundraiser assignments—whether it be major gift, midlevel or planned gift prospects—to screen via WealthPoint once a year
- All incoming new donors or records, possibly every month if feasible
- For K-12 and higher education institutions, incoming parent records that typically show up in Raiser’s Edge NXT databases in the late summer or early fall
- Registered event participants prior to the event if possible, or attendees after the event if not available in Raiser’s Edge NXT prior to the event
- For higher education institutions, those attending a class reunion
- Any top prospect records not assigned to a fundraiser identified through your custom ProspectPoint models with high Major Giving Likelihood > 700 and higher Target Gift Ranges meeting your major gift threshold or Prospect Insights (or PI Pro) modeling in Raiser’s Edge NXT of interest, such as those with Excellent Major Giving Likelihood and higher Target Gift Ranges meeting your major gift threshold
- Other top prospects of interest to potentially be assigned to a major, mid-level or planned gift officer
Keep in mind if the records are already linked within ResearchPoint to Raiser's Edge NXT and are in the software, this process does not create duplicates, but it does give you the ability to group them together based on common criteria only available in Raiser's Edge NXT and/or only up to date in Raiser's Edge NXT.
Setting this template query up in Raiser’s Edge NXT ensures you are not accidentally importing non-individual constituent records such as corporate or foundation records, those without an address. Then when you screen via WealthPoint batch in ResearchPoint imported Raiser's Edge NXT records, you are not using precious batch screening records where results will not be yielded in your search. Maximizing your ability to import into ResearchPoint constituents with valid address data and obtain these insights is very helpful.
