Managing expenses often involves reviewing receipts, invoices, and supporting documents by hand. This process can be high-volume and potentially error-prone for your finance office.
That's why we're excited to introduce AI-Powered Document Intelligence in Expense Management for Financial Edge NXT!
Built on Microsoft Azure AI Document Intelligence and Blackbaud AI, key details are extracted from your financial documents, helping eliminate manual data entry from expense workflows.
Upload a hotel receipt, a vendor invoice, or a credit card charge, and Document Intelligence extracts the details your team used to key by hand—amounts, dates, descriptions, and expense categories—and drops them into an open request, fully coded and ready for review. The source document attaches automatically for a one-click audit trail, while nothing about your approval workflow changes.
It covers both sides of Expense Management, not just one:
- Invoice requests - Snap a photo of a receipt from your phone or upload an invoice from your desk, and a populated request is waiting in the queue.
- Credit card charges - Upload a receipt against any transaction and AI maps it to the right vendor and category automatically, even mapping preferred merchants like “Hotels” or “Restaurants” to your organization’s specific chart of accounts.
The model continuously learns and improves accuracy over time.
By reducing manual entry across two of the most time-consuming expense workflows, AI-Powered Document Intelligence helps your finance team work more efficiently while maintaining the review and approval processes you already trust.
This feature is generally available for customers in the United States and Canada using the latest Financial Edge NXT packages.
