My kids got into Percy Jackson and the Olympians this summer, so they are going as Demigods from Camp Halfblood. They're trying to talk me into going as the Oracle (I told them that was my favorite character) and I can lean in to some wizened ancient crone energy!

We do a Howl-o-ween fundraiser event where kids can safely trick or treat through our animal shelter, play fun games, and learn about safe interactions with animals. I love to see the changing costume themes every year and especially enjoy the kids who come dressed as an adoptable pet or as a pet they previously adopted from us.

Growing up we only went to houses of people we knew, but when I lived in a small village where kids could walk in the streets, we were inundated with kids from outlying areas. Everyone in the village embraced it though, and we had a haunted house and costume contest in the auditorium in the center of the village and everyone decorates for the season.

I'm trying to get our work team to do a group costume and someone suggested we each go as a character from one of our (PBS) shows. If that ideas sticks, I'll go as Carmen Sandiego.

That'll be easier, but less creative, than the year I was the highlight of the party.

I'm attempting (key word here) to make a dragon costume out of recycled cardboard. My employer has their Halloween celebration taking place on 11/4 (it's after the official holiday due to scheduling conflicts), so my plan is to make this for this particular date. Pictures to follow in November!
