How to encourage supporters to use Membership Rewards® points from American Express toward donations (Part 3/3)

In our last post, we shared the details on how your nonprofit can raise more by encouraging supporters to use Membership Rewards® points from American Express towards donations. In this post, we’ll get a bit more specific on ways to promote this opportunity to your supporters.
Your objective here is two-fold.
In order to use points toward a donation, a supporter will need to make a donation to your organization via Blackbaud Peer-to-Peer Fundraising™, powered by JustGiving™ or directly through the JustGiving platform. There are multiple ways someone can get to a donation form to make a donation to your organization. View the various options below and determine where you’ll send your supporters to start their giving journey. You can:
Option 1: Use this template if you plan to link to your JustGiving profile page, or a JustGiving donate now button, or a branded Campaign Page you’ve built using Blackbaud Peer-to-Peer Fundraising.
Option 2: Use this template if you plan to link directly to our American Express Landing Page.

Your objective here is two-fold.
- Notify your supporters that using points toward a donation to your organization is an option.
- Make sure they know where to go and how to donate.
In order to use points toward a donation, a supporter will need to make a donation to your organization via Blackbaud Peer-to-Peer Fundraising™, powered by JustGiving™ or directly through the JustGiving platform. There are multiple ways someone can get to a donation form to make a donation to your organization. View the various options below and determine where you’ll send your supporters to start their giving journey. You can:
- Ask them to donate via a branded Campaign you’ve set up with your Blackbaud Peer-to-Peer Fundraising tool
- Have them visit your profile page directly. You can find your profile page link under the Home, Branding, or Settings tabs in your charity account.
- Embed donate via JustGiving button on your website, and then drive supporters to the button on your site.
- Send them to the JustGiving.com home page or the AMEX Pay with Points landing page to search for your organization. We recommend searching by EIN (without the dash) for the best accuracy.
- Recruit a bunch of individuals to create fundraising pages and have them tell their friends to use points toward a donation. Remember supporters can also donate via an individual’s fundraising page that’s been shared with them by a friend or a family member.

It’s easy to do, and makes a huge impact for our organization, allowing us to {insert statement about the work you do}.
Simply choose the amount you’d like to donate. You’ll be asked to create or sign into an existing JustGiving account. Enter an eligible American Express® Card at checkout and you’ll be able to see your available points balance and the equivalent dollar value for use on JustGiving. Enter the dollar amount of the points you would like applied toward your donation and confirm the donation. Your donation will be charged to the eligible American Express Card and you will receive a statement credit for the points you used.
