Uninstalling custom code/database objects

I was just wondering what others are doing as far as cleaning up customizations that you have that are no longer needed. Do you delete the database objects and code objects or do you just let them sit there not being used? We are looking into possibly cleaning some of that up and I was just wondering what others were doing.

Thanks,

  • Hey there, this just came up for us at Canadian Red Cross today.

In our case we don't need to use the custom code (for a global change) ever again so we deleted it (well actually we're hosted with Blackbaud, so I created a Support case for them to delete it). Once that's done, I'll delete whatever I need in the front end of BBCRM. If you're self-hosted then you can perform both steps.

If you find you don't need the custom code, but have all the data you need you may want to simply archive the custom code off of your server. If you still may need the code one-day I would still archive the custom code off of your server so there's no accidents!

    Cheers,

    Chris
