Setting Up Special Payroll Cycles

To help with COVID-19 impact, we are wanting to run payroll on the halves versus at the end of each month. In reading documentation I see I can create a new pay type to pay 50% at mid-month, however can I override the monthly pay type for the month end cycles until we go back to a monthly payroll?

  • When I run a bonus payroll, I set the effective date for the bonus payroll item on a different date than the regular pay type ending date, i.e. on a Thursday rather than a Friday. Then when you create the payroll calculations, you just limit the date range to the effective date of the special payroll item and exclude the date that payroll would regularly end. Assume this would work for your mid cycle pay type, and allow you to create calculations for mid cycle without canceling or removing the original pay types?
