Budget Scenarios

I am attempting to prepare our  20-21 budget using the budget modular in NXT. This is new to me, Is there a way to only  enter a distribution into the first period? If it is a way, could some one please tell me how to do it or where to find the instructions?

I see the options to do it evenly, percentage or apply budget distribution. I assume I am suppose to use the apply budget distribution, but  the system is not giving me any instructions on how to do.

Thank you for all of your help in advance.

  • You can just enter the amount in the first period and leave the others as zero. I used the Create Budget add-in last week for the first time to enter the budgets. For 11 years I have dreaded entering budgets in FE because it was so slow. We distribute budgets to projects and grants. Our budgets are always done in Excel as it makes it easier for the departments. I just added a column for the accounts and it took less than 15 minutes to get each budget scenario copied to the create budget spreadsheet and submitted. This has saved me days of data entry. I was able to edit the budget from Excel and resubmit when I needed to make changes.

    Quick Tips
    • the periods must have a value, even if it is zero
    • when you enter a formula in the period it will bring it down to multiple rows. You have to delete any values in a row that you do not have an account number in.
    • if you use formulas in the periods make sure you use the round formula or it may return an error.
    • I had some errors with Excel closing, I just made sure I closed out Excel when I was done submitted the budget.
    • if you want to add notes edit the budget through the create budget and the notes column will appear
There is a very short video on how to do this and I strongly encourage you to try it. It does require newer versions of Excel, we use M365.

Hi Lorraine. You may have worked this out by now but you have 2 options to distribute in a customized way.

    1. You can manually type the amounts into the fiscal periods.

    2. You can create a use a custom distribution. The custom distributions are set up in the database view but then are available to be used in the webview. • Thank You, i was able to complete it with the add in.
