Power Automate (AKA Flow) Setup

I see in April that a custom connector was published by Blackbaud for Power Automate: https://us.flow.microsoft.com/en-us/connectors/shared_blackbaudraisersedge/blackbaud-raisers-edge-nxt/. The documentation appears excellent, and the functionality would be very helpful: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/connectors/blackbaudraisersedge/

My issue is that nothing in the documentation for Microsoft or Blackbaud mentions the process of adding this application to my Raiser's Edge instance in order to begin using. Is this something that Blackbaud has published and I missed, or is this not yet generally available? If this is in early preview I would love to know how to get on the list for trialing.

Regardless, it would be helpful when connectors like this are posted to publicly available platforms that some reference to it be posted in a clear place in the knowledge base so users aren't left unsure about the status or how to move forward.

  • This is interesting, Kyle

Does this open up the possibility for a PowerApp to allow data entry to RE?

I'd be interested to see if this allows connection between RE or NXT, for a Flow to automate backups from NXT to SQL.

For instance, the current custom connector I use between Power BI and NXT only allows access to those endpoints available in NXT.

  • Hi all,

Just catching up on threads and wanted to provide a "from Blackbaud" response on this one...

Yes, we have created an official Raiser's Edge NXT connector for use within the Microsoft Power Platform!  The connector can be used within Power Automate (fka Microsoft Flow), Power Apps, and Logic Apps (Patrick - yes, this means you can build a PowerApp that will perform data entry into RE).

The connector wraps many of the endpoints in the SKY API, and allows for some low-code/no-code solutions to be built within the Power Platform (which can in turn integrate with many other SaaS solutions, including those from Microsoft).

We expect to have the connector appear in the Blackbaud App Marketplace in the near future (which will make it easy to connect to your Blackbaud environment), but at the moment we're running an early adopter program (EAP) with a few customers.  Additional information, including formal documentation and announcements, will be coming once we make the connector more broadly available.

Dan - thanks for providing that link to the connector preview form.  For now, if you're interested feel free to complete that form, and we'll reach out with more details (and if you don't hear anything, feel free to message me directly in Community).

    Thanks!
