Journal Entry by Month it was posted to not the date it was done

In NXT, I would like to be able to add a column to the Journal Entry Batch that shows what date it was posted to not the date it was created.  For example, I'm still entering JE's for the month of  July and it is August 4.  I thought by checking "Date Posted" that would be what I am looking for, but no. "Date Posted = The date the entries in the post process was run on this batch"

So again I go back to database view for this.

  • Are you referring to JE batch creator in Excel?

  • No, I have used the excel add on and prefer not to use it either.  I attached a screen shot of what I'm talking about.
  • Ah, I see what you mean. I have my doubts that would be possible the 'posted date' is based on the line item, not the batch. Probably would need to create a query/report for that info.

  • Hi Janet,

You've got several column options to display on the list of journal entries in Financial Edge NXT. These are found under the actions icon (looks like a funnel) on the list page. Turning all of the relevant ones on, you get this:

    57cfd28992fa646056eca846af7575b1-huge-an

(Approved by/date are not used in this database because this one doesn't require approvals, driven by a business rule).

If you're looking for the month this journal entry batch "belongs to," you can use one journal entry batch to span multiple periods, giving you the flexibility to do things like reverse accruals next month, etc. Since there's no other rules other than normal validation, not all entries in a batch have to be in the same month, which is why the indicator I think you want isn't something possible at the moment. I've seen a lot of users put the date and more descriptive text in the description like I did for the batch shown above (2/10 - 2/20/20).

    Hope this helps, thanks!
