FE NXT: Income statement error: "Orphaned process abandoned"

I created a budget vs actual income statement in NXT. It has 5 columns - acct number, acct description, budget, actual, and variance between the two.  The Budget and Actual columns each run fine by themselves, so I know they are pulling the correct data.  The whole report saves just fine, but if I try to run or export it, the process hangs and eventually the banner turns red and says " Orphaned process abandoned ".  What would trigger this error and how can I find out which "orphaned process" needs to be fixed/edited in the report?
