Does anyone track individual responses to mass email communications?

With both eTapestry and ThankView, we have the ability to identify the "click-throughs" of a mass email.  We are debating the advantage of adding this data to each account, thinking it might indicate engagement levels.  Has anyone else thought this through and/or determined a best practice?  I'm interested in the pros and cons, and the mechanics of accomplishing this.  There's no sense spending limited resources to import this data if it is not really useful. It's the old 'juice worth the squeezing" dilemma...
