Tracking Donations for Small Entity

We are building a maternity home for young girls ages 18 to 21 as a ministry of our church, but also with separate reporting structure. We are implementing a separate Financial Edge NXT set of operations. The entity is very small at this point. We are looking software that can track the donations/grants from the donor perspective; not the general ledger perspective. Does anyone have any experience with this type of situation? Our church currently uses Ministry Platform as our church management software to track donor information.
