Tribute Accounts

I am a new etapestry admin for our small non profit. I read (knowledgebase) that tribute accounts can be added to a constituent's account by adding a new "role". In the end, we are getting brand new (tribute) accounts that are not integrated with their respective constituents accounts. What am I doing wrong? Having everything all logged in one account makes better sense to me--- and udfs can bring up the tribute donations for querying purposes. Ann

In the account settings, this just adds a tribute role... much like you as the admin and having the admin or user role. These are integrated, but allows you to track those who are tributed, rather than just deceased.

  • I think I understand what you are saying, Ann. It would make sense for the fact that someone is a Tribute be on their Constituent record. That's not how eTap rolls, however. Instead they get a second account with a new account number that has much the same information as their constituent record. You aren't doing anything wrong. This quirk does make certain things imperative, however. The most notable is in pulling gift information into queries and reports. You want to use the category of Constituent Journal Entry Date as opposed to Journal Entry Date, otherwise you might end up double counting gifts given by me in your honor. Both me as the donor and you as the tribute would be in the results if you used simply Journal Entry Date.

  • Thank you Judith! This is very helpful and I will print your response so I don't forget this tip. I really want to cut and paste the sentence in their guide that says that all you have to do is "add a role" which to me implies that it will be integrated in the constituent account. Instead, it creates a brand new account which obviously translates into a larger database--- and therefore potential subscription cost. Since we serve aging adults, we get a lot memorial contributions.

    Your help is appreciated!

    Best, Ann
