Membership - Active/Current Members - How to Report?

Hi, all - We went live on RE last October and are trying to report out all of what we consider to be our "Active" (or paid-up) members. This would include all active annual memberships, plus any life members who are either paid up or are not behind on their installment payments. We can't seem to isolate this last group. When we look at Membership Standing = Active, it includes life members who haven't made payments in years, so we would not consider them Active anymore. I think we need to do some cleanup on our data in this regard (drop some of these, for example), but in the meantime, how can we report out the balance of the membership dues? Or the total amount of dues (linked gifts) paid so far toward the Dues Amount? After much poking around in Query and Export, we are at a loss.

I think I's start by querying those who are active status and output their most recent gift. Use a constituent query type. I think you may have to do the cleanup before you can get this group accurately.
