We're curious… Do you prefer to E-File or Print your 1099/1096 forms?

We'd prefer to e-file them through the IRS Fire website, which is free, but Blackbaud doesn't have an export function to give us a file to upload to the Fire website. We don't want to use the company Blackbaud does provide since it costs money to e-file.

Hi @Sharelle Buyer. Thank you for the feedback! It's helpful to get a sense of how our customers are filing their 1099/1096. Two options to consider for creating an export/import file is: 1) Export the 1099 Activity Report into excel/csv and clean up as needed for IRS import requirements or 2) create a query with all the fields that you will need for the IRS file and export to excel/csv, then format as needed for IRS upload. Oh and also… 1099 Activity Report and Query are done in FE database view.

We worked with our FE retainer consultant on this export/query functionality and it didn't provide us with all we needed. I had sent her an example of what we have done in our old system, and she couldn't get it to work properly so we “trashed” the whole thing.
