Changing payment method of a posted invoice

Is there a reason why FENXT does not allow users to change the payment method of a posted invoice? That is not an uncommon occurrence. Sometimes we think that we are going to pay something by check and then decide to pay it by credit card instead. When that happens, we have to just delete the original invoice and re-enter it. If we try to change the payment method, we get an error message which states “You have not made any changes to the existing distribution. The adjustment cannot be saved.”

What is really dumb about that statement is that we are changing the distribution. When we pay something by check, the default credit account is to Accounts Payable. But when we change the payment method to credit card, the credit account changes automatically to our Visa card liability account. And then FENXT still shows that we have made no changes.

  • This is a major pain for us. When I contacted support in 2020, they pretty much said “Good Idea” and to place it in the idea bank because they check there for needed updates. When I searched first, I found that it's already there. It doesn't seem to have gained a lot of “votes” over the 3 years we've been complaining about it.
