Unable to loan Budget Creator Add-In for Excel

The Add-in simply will not load. It wants to update, but when you click the update button, it says Internet Explorer is no longer supported. I don't even have IE installed on my computer, so I must conclude that the tool itself is set up to update using IE. There is no knowledgebase article I can find about any troubleshooting for the tool. SO FRUSTRATED!! Anybody have suggestions?

    My school had a similar issue back in December. Microsoft has recently released a new version of Excel (Excel 2021) and they also no longer support Internet Explorer. Because of this, they have changed how Excel works in regards to addins. Older versions of Excel use internet explorer when connecting to addins that require access to the internet, so this means any add-in that requires access to the internet will not work for older versions of excel, since they automatically use Internet explorer. The only versions of excel that use either Edge or Chrome for their add-ins are some versions of Microsoft 365 and Office Excel 2021.     Therefore, the problem really does have anything to do with Blackbaud's budget plugin but a change with Microsoft. Once we upgraded our version of Office, the budget plugin started working perfectly again.

  • All your MS products need to be on the latest version. If your IT department does not have you updating automatically, you need to update manually. I found this out the hard way :(
