Post Date vs. Date Posted

What date is the "post date" in the list of JE batches? The only available column option is the "date posted" which is not the actual "post date" from JE lines.

Unfortunately, the list of JE batches does not display the post date. To see the post date, you must actually open the JE and find the post date within…….unless there is some other way I"m not aware of.

  • @Deb Foos Thank you so much! That is what I thought, but I still wanted to make sure I am not missing something.

Yea FE tracks the date posted, so you know regardless of what the post date is in the entry, which somone actually clicked the Post button. That way if you're tracking down reconciliation issues, it helps to know when something actually happened vs the Post date to affect your reports.

We have actually started entering the Post Date along with the description in the description field. Since the description displays in the JE List, we can see the post date from there.

I was told by Blackbaud that they cannot make a ‘Post Date’ column because a journal entry can utilize more than one post date within the entry.

I would love it if they could simply list the word ‘multiple’ in that column instead because almost 100% of the entries we make only have only one post date.

I started opening JEs which were posted in early July, and changing the title to reflect the post date or FY. It's the only thing I can change after a JE is posted, and it helps to see which AP posting belongs to which FY, for example.

I've asked the Product Manager who is in charge of the General Ledger to look into this to see if we can make that change in the lists

I agree with you. I use the journal entries for a specific month. I never post to multiple months within one batch. Yes, I use “June 2022” as the starting of the title for my batch but it would be a good check to be able to add a column to show what month it was posted to.

  • @Kevin Brazell
On the other hand, if I intended to post a JE to June but can't find the entry showing on my General Ledger then I have to search for it. Did it accidentally get posted in May or July? Still a search issue.
