Address Validation on a website

Hi there,

Looking for some options to be able to add auto address validation and autofill for addresses on our donor portal site. Any recommendations on tools/software?

  • Hi @Shweta Jayaram, we use Experian address validation, which can be added to the donation form on BBIS. Im sure there are other suppliers in the USA but can't help in that regard.

    The validation does help with having a correct address . You can also set up the Address Validation process to run regularly against all addresses on your database - this process creates a batch that you can also committ automatically so it's a fully automated process.

    The process to set it up is under Administration / Tools-Data Tune-up

    Under Address Validation tab, add the process and then click on the name link to open the process
    It runs two processes.

    Validate Address

    The first one finds the valid addresses. Click on Edit and choose your criteria. I use a adhoc query to find the addresses which need to be validated. Good idea to exclude any incomplete or invalid addresses (Use the Do Not SEnd mail reason for this) and also any addresses which have already been validated.

    Running this process normally takes around 10-15 min and it doesn't pick up every address, it seems to only pick up around 3000 at a time.

    If the process finishes successfully, then it creates the batch

    Update Address

    Bascially you just need to commit the batch!

    I have this process running out of hours overnight every hour, and use the Auto commit batches to automatcially committ all the Address Validation batches, so it really runs without any intervention once set up. ?
