The mysterious, disappearing journal entry batch

Has anyone ever had a journal entry batch disappear before you could post it? Yesterday one of our Raiser's Edge batches was showing up in Financial Edge, ready to be posted. When I tried to post it, FE kept timing out and would give me an error message that it could not post due to timing out. I exported a copy of the batch, just in case I might later need to manually enter the journal entry. Since it was the end of the day, I decided to wait until today to see if I could post it. When I opened FE this morning, the batch was gone and the same batch number had been used for a completely differently journal entry…very strange. Thankfully, since I had saved an excel copy of the original Raiser's Edge batch, I was able to manually enter it and post it this morning.

    I've only seen this happen when a batch report has been run/validated in Raiser's Edge, but not yet posted to Financial Edge. A temporary batch can be seen in Financial Edge, but it can go away if you do not complete the process (such as to go back and make further edits in Raiser's Edge).
