Total Web Solution - Turning Off certain database view features

When I logged into FENXT today, I noticed the following in the Home page under “What's New”

Total web solution

As we communicated to you earlier this year, in our commitment to deliver a total web solution, we are moving database view features completely into webview, with an initial focus on features that are less impactful to your day-to-day.

We are delivering these updates progressively in parallel with new capabilities in webview, to continue to make this as seamless as possible for your organization! On April 12 we began "turning off" the following features in database view:

  • General ledger processing
  • VCO
  • View system statistics
  • Post
  • Validate database
  • Enter beginning balances
  • Lock beginning balances
  • Update fund transaction requirements
  • Account Codes
  • Fund Configuration
  • Transaction Codes
  • Tables
  • Attributes
  • Fields
  • Interfunds

Note: We're releasing these updates in waves. Some of you will see the changes immediately, and some will see these updates in an upcoming wave."

So is it saying I can no longer POST in database view??? WTF?

I can't add account codes?

So how about providing me with an actual feature deactivation list so I can actually plan the conversion over to Webview? We even took the steps to get ourselves a test database and FE learn everything to get ourselves upto speed. But this news has hit me like a brick.

I've got to figure out what will and won't work for our YE close as well as our new fiscal starting April 1.

And the releasing in waves part, how about telling me when certain items are going to be turned off for those of us that are still using database view?

  • @Paul Wu
I am with you on this. There are too many times we cannot do something in the Web Base view that we can do in the Database view. I am very unhappy about this.

    @Linda Poenitzsch

I've been on support chat and it does not look good.

I tried to post, and it still works for me, so far.

I really hate the lack of communication on the timing of features that are going to be shut down.

  • @Paul Wu - We cannot post any payments with a discount in NXT. They have known this for a couple weeks and still turned off database posting :(

  • @Paul Wu
Thanks for sharing. I just have to spend more time in NXT instead of the comforts of database view.

Looks like BB trying their best to further alienate paying customers! Why would you turn off functioning features before the replacement is FULLY ready????

  • @James Hess
We tried to run our AP checks via webview today; and it is not functional. There is no way to filter payments to only include invoices with discounts through a specific date…. So frustrating!

@JoAnne Thielen Do you not have these options available when doing your check run? If so, we'd definitely want you to get in contact with support so you can filter by those discount dates!

  • @Nikki Baldwin thank you, I was able to find this option under the print settings! Unfortunately, the customer service rep told us this feature was not available in web view.

@Paul Wu and all, have you received any further information regarding timing. If this is a phased approach, are the “phases” being communicated? I don't understand the strategy behind this approach, and would like to get your feedback regarding this strategy as well.

@Jennifer Kay: No further updates on the timing nor the phases have been communicated.

The phased approach makes sense, but the lack of communication is a problem. As far as I know, I received the one email back in Feb and then noticed the “What's new” under the update when logged into FE and posted here. I openned a case asking for the timing and phases and the case has been closed and moved to our ‘success’ manager, etc. Had someone email me to setup a meeting, but have yet to schedule one.

From the Product briefing session on April 27:

I just don't understand the lack of communication. A simple hey, these are the phases we are thinking about….. Oh no, we have to change our timing so here is the new plan. Oh wait, another change in plans. This type of communication is just fine. It helps the paying customers know what is going on vs…We are going to do this by ‘mid 2024 in phases" ……….to “We are ’turning off…”

FYI, I was able to still use the database view yesterday to create a JE.
