All segments must have valid values error

I am trying to add a new account and keep getting this error message that all segments must have valid values. Anyone know how to fix this?

sounds like a org specific info that you need to verify.

the new account number that you trying to create has multiple segments, you need to confirm that each segment has “value” that is accurate and not inactive.

@Andrea Manion, typically that is due to one of the segments you're trying to create in the new account string hasn't been created yet, like the account code or fund. There are steps to walk through to check what may be new here:

Thank you. The account code and fund are already created and there are no invalid segment combinations set up or any inactive accounts, so I still don't know what to do! This account combination has never been used yet so I am sure I am missing a step.

@Andrea Manion I'd just double check that they're all already created and if they are, contact support. Because it's not just the account code or fund that could cause this error. Say your account string is 4 segments 01-1000-10-20 (Fund - Account Code - Department - Program (or whatever term your org uses for any of those segments)). If any of those segments haven't been created in Configuration before, like the Dept. or Program 10 or 20 is new, you'll get that error too before you can add it to a new account string/record.

  • @Nikki Baldwin ok thank you so much! I will probably contact support to help me then.

This what I do to add an account. In NXT, go to General Ledger> settings> account codes. Add the account code with the proper information. Then go to General Ledger> Accounts and add it there ( it should pop up). You want to make sure it falls with in your chart organizer (especially if it is an account at the beginning or end of a grouping.

I figured it out - had to go into Database and 'created the account" - then back to ADD ACCOUNTS. UGH!
