Budget Tool

Does anyone utilize the budget tool in FENXT? Our office has chose not to over the years due to the fact that we don't budget for each individual expense item. We have projects set up for each budget area (i.e. office expenses, annual giving, development (each officer has their own project), etc.). I think we could still use the tool by putting in one expense line for each project. I know that isn't ideal, but we report the budget based on the project as a whole, but expense lines within each budget. I was curious if others use it this way.

    You could still. You'd pick a single account for the Project budget. As long as you're totaling the projects amounts on reports it can still report the overall budget totals per the project, even if you're using accounts that don't hold a budget amount with the project. Just make sure your budget rules in AP don't prevent you from using accounts without a budget in invoices etc. That should be under AP>Settings>Business Rules in Web view or DB view : AP>Configuration>Business Rules.
