Security based on Department

Does anyone know of a way to do Department based security in Financial Edge? I know we can do it at the account level, but I don't want to have to change security by user every time I open a new account (not all of ours can be range based.)

I want to assign a department to each user and have them access general ledger, budget, AP, and reporting data for anything in those departments. Is there a way to do this?

    You'd use what used to be called Advanced Security now called Record Security. It allows you to set restrictions at the user level for Banks, Accounts, Project. If it's by department, then the easiest method would be to set up account queries by department, then use those in Security >Record Security and edit each user's access to accounts only in that query. The key here is other users shouldn't be editing those specific queries since they will have a security function. I'd set up a query category called security and make it common knowledge, most users should never view or edit those to help keep them out.
