NXT EFT remittance not including description
Has anyone found a work around since the NXT remittances include invoice number, amount, and payment date only? We need description included and a Blackbaud customer service rep said that is not available now, but may be in the future with an add-on we have to purchase. Description was on the Omatic remittances so this is disappointing!

@Gina Logan, I'm not sure what the reference was about an add-on option you'd have to purchase because we do plan to add more functionality/detail information for the EFT notification in the future and that wouldn't be an additional charge. While I don't know the reasons why exactly Omatic decided not to create an API version of this solution and support it with FENXT, I can at least mention that we do have another option for you. Payment Assistant, in limited availability, allows Blackbaud and our partner REPAY to facilitate those vendor payments for you - -directly out of FENXT. The vendor can elect to receive virtual card payments, EFT, or paper checks and we'll serve up the detail for them – none of this is at a cost to you either, it's included in your FENXT subscription.
You can fill out this interest form to have someone contact you to learn more, if you'd like.

@Nikki Baldwin we were told that payment assistant was not fully operational -is this true? I was under the impression there was additional charges to use it so it's good news to hear that it isn't. If we use this once its fully up and running, can we only use the remittance portion of it or do we have to let it take over the whole payment processing?

@Leah Johnson, it's true that Payment Assistant is in limited availability, but that is because we are still rolling out some features like tiered approvals vs. one, and soon after to allow for usage with more than one bank account. So we actually have a lot of customers already utilizing the service successfully for all of their vendor payments and if you sign up via the Interest Form, you can get some of that information via webinar and we'll have some stories/quotes from those customers to share, as well. It also doesn't limit you from still utilizing the payment processing in FENXT, should you have some invoices you need to pay manually or have multiple banks from which you need to pay invoices. A lot of organizations started with just a few invoices/vendors and then quickly moved to full vendor payment after seeing how well it worked. And yes, no additional subscription or per item fees are involved – so it's really no risk to try it out!

@Nikki Baldwin We also use MailOmatic and have been very happy with it. When you say “we do plan to add more functionality/detail information for the EFT notification in the future”, can you share more details as to what this means and when we could expect more functionality?

@Bethany Shore, I'm sorry I don't have many details to share, including timing, but have been told by my team that there are plans to expand some of the available fields on the notifications along with some customization. We'll share details on the usual channels as soon as we have some more development in that area.

@Nikki Baldwin Do you know of any vendors that integrate with FE NXT that can send detailed automated Remittance emails? We are trying to avoid having to create a mail merge situation. We have vendors calling us daily to receive more detailed information regarding EFT payments.

@Alexa Fife, I would recommend looking at Payment Assistant, which I linked on this thread earlier, as we would handle those EFT remittances for you without the need for an additional partner subscription (not the same as the EFT remittances you'd generate from FENXT yourself). That said, if you check out our Partner Marketplace, filter on Financial Edge NXT, you'll see some options around Accounts Payable automation. I can't say for certain what those EFT remittances look like or what flexibility you have there, but you can engage with those partners via the marketplace to get more information.

@Nikki Baldwin Unfortunately, payment assistance requires personal information from an executive sponsor from the organization, and that is not something we have had to do with our bank nor is it something our department heads are willing to do.
Does Blackbaud FENXT does not partner with any outside companies for remittance solutions similar to how MailOMatic worked with FE? Please note we are not looking to automate our AP functions; we just want to send remittance emails without creating a mail merge situation.

@Alexa Fife I do understand the hesitation there but that is a security measure to protect your organization. For more information on why that's required:
As of May 11, 2018, the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN), a bureau of the U.S. Department of Treasury, requires that for U.S. accounts this information is collected for either:
- An individual with significant responsibility for managing the organization or,
- Any individual who owns 25% or more of the business
The information Blackbaud is required to collect is the individual’s full legal name, home address, date of birth and social security number. If the individual is unable to be verified with this information, a color-copy government issued photo ID (ex. Driver’s license or passport) may be required for the individual.
This information is necessary to ascertaining the identity of individuals and entities to comply with the regulatory and financial industry rules. Unfortunately, we are unable to make exceptions to this requirement.
This information is collected for the specific purpose of verifying compliance for payment processing and will only be used for that purpose. Moreover, all information is protected against loss or theft as well as unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, use or modification.
The signatory authority of the organization must be an individual with significant responsibility for managing the organization (e.g., a Chief Executive Officer, Chief Financial Officer, Executive Director or Treasurer). This individual assumes the role as key contact for the account should any issues arise related to regulatory examinations and investigations.
For additional information regarding the FinCEN requirement, please see
Appendix A, page 58 of the Federal Register.
In regard to the partners, yes, you will find them on the Marketplace as I mentioned above (some examples are Paymerang and AvidXchange). Omatic is still a partner, but I can't speak as to why they decided not to advance their solution for FENXT webview via modern API connections.

Due to the executive sponsor requirement, we are not able to utilize payment assistance.
As far as the partners through FENXT, the ones you listed are automated AP platforms and that is not what my superiors are interested in. They only want a solution to our remittance email issues that is not a separate AP Platform. Do you happen to have any client contacts who utilize other means for EFT email remittances that are not Payment Assistance or Automated AP Platforms?

@Gina Logan we have not found a workaround, except to send a copy of the ‘stub’ when a vendor asks for the details.

@Alexa Fife, I'm sorry I don't personally know of any others exactly like Omatic's solution but there is a possibility that Avid, Paymerang, or one of the other AP automation vendors could assist with this. Otherwise, we are planning on some improvements, based on customer feedback, in this area to allow for more flexibility with those notifications. I don't have any details to share beyond that but hope to have more information from our product team for our upcoming Product Update Briefing (PUB) coming in May.

@Nikki Baldwin we will be eagerly awaiting an update on this. We really need the ability to send more information via remittances and the ability to do some slight customization would be amazing. So many vendors and internal staff think the current remittance email is spam.
