How to edit the in-service date of a newly entered and saved fixed asset

I added a new fixed asset record and saved it, but I entered the incorrect in-service date. When I try to edit the record, the in-service date is grayed out so I cannot change the date. I tried to delete the record, but it won't let me. Depreciation has not been posted yet.

is there an acquisition transaction on there? That usually locks down acquisition date, in service date and acquisition amount. If so, delete that then change your date. Then re add the acquisition transaction.
