Soft Credits for Multiple Champions – How Do You Handle It?

Hi everyone,
I'm hoping to tap into the collective wisdom of this community around handling soft credits in eTapestry, specifically when a donation is connected to multiple Champions.

We're a charity that runs one or two major fundraising campaigns each year. These are driven by Champions (often individuals or couples) who each get a personal campaign page and reach out to their networks. Donations through their pages are attributed to them via soft credits, which works fine when there’s a single account involved.

But things get tricky when a team is led by more than one Champion, say a family or a group of friends. Since eTapestry only allows a soft credit to one account per gift, how do others handle this?

• Do you split the donation and assign partial credits?
  (If so, how do you decide the split fairly?)
• Do you duplicate the record somehow, or track soft credits outside of eTapestry's native soft credit feature?
• How do you manage the reporting so you don’t under- or over-represent the donations brought in by these multi-person teams?

We're trying to avoid inflating donor records, but also want to give proper credit where it's due. I'd love to hear how others approach this and what’s worked best for your organisation.
