New: Venmo Available for select Luminate Online Customers in Blackbaud Checkout

We’re happy to announce that Venmo, one of our most-requested payment options, is now available to Luminate Online customers using PayPal within Blackbaud Checkout in the United States.

For those of you who are not currently using PayPal in Blackbaud Checkout, this payment option will be available to you in the coming months!

In Blackbaud Checkout, Venmo offers:

• Standard OneRATE (2.8% + $0.26) for Venmo transactions
• Funds disbursement by PayPal to your organization’s PayPal merchant account (the Blackbaud Merchant Services Web Portal doesn’t show disbursements)
• Support for one-time gifts
• Support for US dollar transactions

What do I need to do?

There is no action needed to configure Venmo when PayPal is already configured. Venmo automatically displays as a payment method in Blackbaud Checkout for customers in the United States when PayPal is configured.

Who has access to the initial release of Venmo?

Luminate Online customers who have already integrated their PayPal business account with Blackbaud Merchant Services and are already using PayPal within Blackbaud Checkout can offer Venmo as a payment option. The option will automatically display following the Limited Availability release on March 10, 2022.

If you aren’t yet using Blackbaud Checkout or have not yet integrated your PayPal business account within your Blackbaud Merchant Services portal, we anticipate general release of the Venmo feature in the coming months. Once generally released, you can enable this as an option.

How do I enable Blackbaud Checkout for Luminate Online so I can offer Venmo when it is generally available?

To offer Venmo to donors in the United States, you need:
·Blackbaud Checkout
·Blackbaud Merchant Services
·PayPal Commerce Platform merchant account

To enable Blackbaud Checkout in Luminate Online, you can either:
·Use an S-Tag to display the form on a PageBuilder page
·Use a code snippet to add a Donate button to any page in any domain

To enable Venmo payments, set up PayPal integration in Blackbaud Checkout by following the steps in the PayPal Integration Setup Guide.

To use Blackbaud Merchant Services (BBMS), speak to your account representative about getting BBMS set up, or complete the steps outlined in, "How to set up or register for a Blackbaud Merchant Services (BBMS) account" Knowledgebase Article 55321.

How do I see the Venmo transactions?

Blackbaud Merchant Services designates Venmo gifts as a PayPal transaction. When downloaded to Batch, PayPal transactions display a Credit Type of PayPal and Pay Method of Credit Card. All Venmo transactions, PayPal transaction reporting, and disbursements will be available in your PayPal merchant account dashboard after you complete your setup.

Currently, Venmo is only offered as a payment method within the Blackbaud Checkout feature.

Can donors select recurring gifts with Venmo?
No. Venmo supports one-time giving. For recurring gifts, donors can select a credit card payment method.

Can I use Venmo in Canada or the UK?
No, Venmo as a payment method is only available in the United States and therefore in Blackbaud Checkout is also only available in the United States.
