Academics

Adding current date to report cards and transcripts

When using the Report Card Builder or Transcript Builder, use the "Current date” placeholder in a text area to insert the school’s current date at the time you generate the report card or transcript.

To use this feature, edit or build a template. On the Design form, insert or edit a Text area. In the text box, select Placeholder, then Current date.

The placeholder field will enter the date in your school’s time zone when generating report cards and transcripts. It will follow the short date pattern set in Core under Settings, General settings, and Site Demographics. The date is formatted according to the School Culture setting.

Contact Blackbaud to edit this setting if needed.

Billing management (Early Adopter Program)

Disbursement filter and column added to Recent payments list

Disbursement filter and column are now available on the Recent payments list. Include the optional Disbursement column to review the disbursement date for payments, and filter on the Disbursement date to refine the entries in the list.

Pending date now included in Processing details for direct debit payments

Pending date is now available under Processing details for direct debit payments. Use the Pending date to determine when the payment clears.

Student name now triggers flyout on the My Actions list

Selecting a student’s Name on the My Actions list now opens a flyout with a summary of the student in question.

Enrollment management

BBID Authentication List

When adding an Entering Year while filtering on a Parent of Candidate, the BBID Authentication List will now return results based on entering year of the candidate who is associated with the parent as expected.

Financial Aid management

Allow Only Enterprise Budgets prevents school user access to specific areas

Enterprise administrators can limit the areas that school users have access to by enabling Allow Only Enterprise Budgets in Settings > General School Settings. With this setting enabled, School Users, Advanced School Users, and Read Only users cannot see Home, Reports, or Settings.

Additionally, they cannot access Manage Awards > Letters, Budgets > Budget Mapping, or Families > Manage Families > Recent Status Updates.

Tuition management

Auto Debit Block Notifications

As of August 3, Blackbaud Tuition Management no longer sends email notifications when a payer stops their auto debit payments. School users can now schedule a Blocked Auto Debits Report to identify these payers.

To schedule the Blocked Auto Debits Report:
  1. Select the appropriate school year
  2. Hover over Reports and select Static Reports.
  3. Under Cashflow, drag Blocked Auto Debits to Scheduled Reports.
  4. Enter the email address where you want the report sent. You can enter up to 5 recipients.
  5. Under Add New Repeating Schedule, select from the following options:
  • Once a Week or Bi-Weekly: select the day of the week your report will be sent.
  • Once a Month: select the day of the month your report will be sent.
  • Funds Transfer Date: the report will be sent only when funds are transferred to your school.
  • Upon Activity: the report will be sent only when there is Blocked Auto Debit activity to include in the report.
  1. Select Add Scheduled Dates To List.
  2. Select Save Changes.

Blackbaud ID: Migrate by September 27, 2022

Platform managers can migrate users to Blackbaud ID via the links on the Core home dashboard. They can also export user lists for use in mail merges and other communications.

We’ve extended the deadline to migrate users. Ensure your school’s users are on BBID by September 27, 2022.

Authenticating with Blackbaud ID:
  • ensures an even more secure authentication process,
  • enables users to further enhance security by enabling multi-factor authentication through text messages or mobile authenticators,
  • enables users to login to multiple Blackbaud solutions and support resources with a single username and password,
  • enables users to login with “social authentication” via Google’s authentication requirements, password resets, and other support needs,
  • enables users to help themselves reset forgotten passwords, rather than platform managers needing to provide tech support for forgotten passwords,
  • enables schools to enable an optional SSO for any roles they prefer, so that those users sign in with the school’s identity providers and the school can then manage the users in their claimed domains.

Enforce Blackbaud ID Requirement (Opt-In to EAP)

Platform managers can select to join the early adopter program (EAP) which forces all users to log in with Blackbaud ID (BBID) before it’s required for all schools.

From Core, select Security, select Blackbaud ID authentication, select Enforce Blackbaud ID authentication, and finally select Enforce to confirm you want to join the EAP. When you enforce BBID, all users, regardless of their security role, will be required to log in with Blackbaud ID.

During the EAP, you can revert and opt out to stop enforcing BBID. However, later this year, it will still be enforced for all schools, all users, and all security roles, as previously announced.
