Blackbaud’s Education Management Solutions: What’s New For December 20, 2022

Here are the latest changes, updates, and new features for the Education management products for December 20, 2022.

Billing management (Early Adopter Program)

Review distributions from the new distributions list

The Distribution list is a new list that compiles all distributions within one location. Billing clerks use filters to refine what appears in the list, adjust the columns to customize it further, and can export the list to a .csv file to review or analyze within another software solution.
Access the new Distribution list by logging into Billing management, hovering over Lists in the navigation, and selecting Distribution list.

Export Payment applications based on date range and fee type

The Payment applications export is a new reporting feature enabling Billing clerks to compile all transpired payment applications into a .csv file based on date range and specific fee types. Use the exported data to assist payers with completing their taxes.
Access the new Payment applications export by logging into Billing management, hovering over Reporting in the navigation, and selecting Payment applications export.

Core

Social Security Numbers (SSN)

Over the next few months, users may notice small changes that improve our alignment with privacy laws and best practices.
As of December 13, we now mask social security numbers in all advanced list outputs, including spreadsheet exports and API outputs.
Users with permission to view SSNs can still view the information in user contact cards, the user list, the students list, and the candidates list. Data remains visible (unmasked) and exportable in these “Sky” lists.

API and Integrations

OneRoster API

New
We've added two new rostering endpoints, GET Demographics all and GET Demographics by ID.
GET Demographics all returns a collection of <span style="font-size:10pt;"><span style="font-family:Calibri, sans-serif;">demographics</span></span> objects, with each object containing properties pertaining to gender, ethnicity, and other related details.
GET Demographics by ID returns a single <span style="font-size:10pt;"><span style="font-family:Calibri, sans-serif;">demographics</span></span> object corresponding to the required user <span style="font-size:10pt;"><span style="font-family:Calibri, sans-serif;">ID</span></span> parameter; the object contains properties pertaining to gender, ethnicity, and other related details.
To take full advantage of the gender and ethnicity-related fields featured in the responses of these two endpoints, schools must leverage the Integration mappings settings page found in Education management > Core > Settings > Integration mapping. Unmapped fields result in empty values in the response.
Changed
We've updated the responses from PUT Result and PUT LineItem.
The PUT Result response now includes the <span style="font-size:10pt;"><span style="font-family:Calibri, sans-serif;">lineItem</span></span> and <span style="font-size:10pt;"><span style="font-family:Calibri, sans-serif;">student</span></span> objects. The PUT LineItem response now includes the <span style="font-size:10pt;"><span style="font-family:Calibri, sans-serif;">class</span></span>, <span style="font-size:10pt;"><span style="font-family:Calibri, sans-serif;">category</span></span>, and <span style="font-size:10pt;"><span style="font-family:Calibri, sans-serif;">gradingPeriod</span></span> objects.
