Ahhh, Home Sweet Lowe’s!

I don’t actually like going to Lowe’s home improvement store, but you wouldn’t know that by the amount of time I spend there. Or my credit card statement.

Every household project seems to require a trip… or two… or three.

You see, my wife and I are aspiring do-it-yourselfers whose reach exceeds their grasp.

Things look so easy and straightforward on YouTube.

What they don’t tell you, however, is that the fix causes a new problem which must also be fixed. And on and on and onto Lowe’s.

Fortunately for us, Lowe’s has a good return policy! As long as you keep your receipt.

Who else likes receipts, aside from flailing DIYers? Your donors!

Receipting your donations is an essential part of stewardship. Keep your donors happy and appreciated by sending timely receipts!

Come learn how to use Raiser’s Edge NXT’s new gift receipting and giving statements functionality in our new class! Gift Receipting and Statements covers editing and adding new receipt templates, creating and sending receipts, and generating giving statements.

Here’s a tip from the class: Draft your receipt template to also serve as an acknowledgement letter. Then, mark gifts receipted and acknowledged when sending receipts, to save time and effort!

Note: The gift receipting and giving statements features are currently available only to United States customers.

Interesting change in perspective in tip. As a ‘long-er time user’ who receipts/thanks in one document, support always recommended just to mark as receipted and not mark as acknowledged so records could be pulled at a point in the future if desired for another ‘touch’/acknowledgement.

Our acknowledgement letters have always been used as a receipt but I never thought to mark the record as both acknowledged AND receipted. That makes complete sense, though, to me. Thanks for the prompt.

Hi JoAnn! That approach makes sense- ultimately this will be a ‘Policies and Procedures’ decision. It's a nice option to have, though!
