What's New In Raiser's Edge NXT - April 12th

This week, Raiser's Edge NXT introduces an update to automatic constituent matching and an improvement to donation forms.Update to automatic matching criteria

When someone completes a form in Raiser's Edge NXT, gives through JustGiving, or creates a JustGiving fundraising page, Raiser's Edge NXT uses the constituent information to search for an existing constituent record to update before it creates a new one. To reduce the number of duplicate records created from automatic matching, Raiser's Edge NXT now uses constituent addresses to identify existing records. Previously, the matching criteria only included names and email addresses or phone numbers.

Also, to prevent errors when a Jr and Sr share an address, if a person’s name includes a suffix, the existing record must also include the same suffix. Otherwise, Raiser's Edge NXT creates a new record.

For more information see, Automatic Constituent Matching.

Update to default country and phone values in donation forms

To better serve donors, the default values of the country and phone fields in donation forms now match your organization's country. Previously, donation forms would honor the browser's default country setting.

Super excited about the update to constituent matching!!! Thank you for this!

  • Is the update to matching just for JustGiving, or other RE purposes as well, such as the web view online donation and event registration forms?

Hi Bill! Yes, “a form” in the first sentence was meant to include registration and donation forms. Sorry that wasn't clear and thanks for asking the question. ?

  • I set up a new event form. I tested to see how the automatic constituent matching works. the KB articles reads that it searches all addresses, so, I registered as an organization using the physical address vs mailing (primary) address and a very similar spelling of the name (Victoria ISD vs Victoria I.S.D.). The system added it as a new record. I have both addresses in the original record and I even have the variation of the name in the “alias” on the Database view side. Kinda disappointed…. ? Lots of record changes for this event.

    Hi Karen,

With the addition of address we can now use that in the place of the email/phone requirement when it comes to matching. The first part of any match is an exact match on name for business and last name for constituents. I would expect a non match in your case since we have different names.

No one wants to deal with duplicates but we need to be sure we have the right record and that match on name is extremely important. We would always rather create new than potentially match incorrectly.
