What's New In Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT® — October 31st

Here are the latest changes in Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT® for October 31st, 2023.
  • Enhancements to identify records with table entries
  • Add a designation to a donation form's URL
  • Social posting unavailable after October 30th
Enhancements to identify records with table entries

Based on feedback, you can now find which records use table entries before you remove the entries by copying a list of identifiers associated with the field, such as constituent and gift IDs. Previously, you would copy from a list of system record IDs.

From Control panel, Tables, open the table with the entry to remove. Next, select View uses from the menu next to the entry's name in the table entries list. If any records include the entry, a list of identifiers appears. In the database view, from Query, you can use the identifiers to search for and update the records as necessary.

For more information, see Tables.

Add a designation to a donation form's URL

Hyperlink parameters let you choose the designations to associate with a donation form through the form's URL without adding them to the form's configuration. For example, when there are too many designations to add to a single form, add hyperlinks for each designation on a webpage or email. Then, donors can choose which fundraising initiative to give toward before directing them to the form. Adding a designation to the URL only requires the designation's system record ID. However, you can optionally add a name for the designation that will appear on the form.

From Tools, Donation forms, create or edit a form. Under Get started, Designations, find the designation and make note of its system record ID. Next, close the form. From Share form, select Launch form from its URL and copy the URL. Add to the end of the URL &desid=ID, replace ID with the designation's system record ID. For more information, see Hyperlink Parameters.

It's great to see changes to a feature in web view that came directly from feedback from end users! I, personally, find Cons ID much easier to work with than System Record ID when dealing with Tables. Thanks, Blackbaud!

  • I greatly appreciate the work done to help users find information without using an ID field that is only available if you dig within the system! ? Fixing an issue that developers created by not running it through actual RE users beforehand as none would suggest using System ID's for anything.

I don't like to see features removed from the product with absolutely no notice. This was even posted after the date listed, giving organizations no time to make alternative plans. Another example of bad foresight from Blackbaud leaving any organization that relied on this feature in the lurch.

Thank you for your feedback. Regarding the removal of the social feature, recently Twitter made a change to its API configuration disabling the ability to post your content to Twitter using your Blackbaud solution. Due to this continued instability and frequent changes within social media platforms we made the decision to stop offering this feature within our solutions. We did add a banner with the details and the decommission date of Oct 30th in the Marketing/Social area in NXT on 08/04/2023 so the users will have time to adjust their process.

  • Happy to see the ability to add multiple designations, just need the campaigns to go with them?

Very glad to see the option to link forms to the designation!
