Are Your Gradebooks Missing In FAWEB

School has started or is about to, and a teacher contacts you to say, “Help!  All my gradebooks are missing on my FAWeb homepage!”  What do you do to resolve this issue?  First, you need to know there is more than one possible cause for this error.  If you know that, then you also know there is more than one possible solution to the problem. This article will cover the most common causes and solutions to your teachers’ gradebooks missing in FAWeb.


Here is a helpful tip that will save a tremendous amount of time in troubleshooting.  Ask yourself, what is today’s date?  Only classes scheduled during the current term, based on today’s date, will show on the homepage in FAWeb.  For example, if today’s date falls within the Fall term, only classes scheduled during the Fall term will show on your teacher’s homepage.  However, all gradebooks will still be available under the Gradebook menu.


If you want to view a gradebook for a class not in your current term, then you will want to navigate to Gradebooks > Enter Grades by Class, and select the appropriate marking column and class on the Gradebook page.  However, if today’s date is within the current term and you are still not seeing any gradebooks on the teacher’s FAWeb homepage, then you will want to go ahead and try the following steps in order until the issue is resolved:


A primary cause can be that teachers may not have access to the appropriate Academic year or marking column for that school. You can resolve this by logging into FAWeb as a Supervisor user. Under the Setup menu, select Setup Academic Year Access. Mark the appropriate year to Yes for Grades and Attendance for all schools. Then, under the Setup menu select Edit Marking Column Access and mark the appropriate columns to Yes for View and Edit. If this does not make the gradebooks appear, try the next steps:


The teacher’s restrictions may not have the appropriate school selected. To resolve this:

  2. In Registrar’s Office go to Records > Faculty/Staff.
  3. Open the teacher’s record, select the Restrictions 1 tab.
  4. In the Schedule in these schools section, mark the appropriate school(s).
The teacher may not be scheduled for a class in that academic year.

  2. In Scheduling, click Open a class or Edit master schedule.
  3. Open the appropriate class and check if the teacher is listed on the Class tab.
  4. If meetings should be schedule, check the Meetings tab. If no meetings exist, select New Meeting on the action bar and create a meeting with the teacher. Or, right-click in the cell of the first meeting time to add a New Meeting.
  5. On the Meetings tab, make sure the appropriate teacher is assigned to a meeting.
The course may not be marked to be graded in at least one marking column for the selected academic year.

  2. In Registrar’s Office go to Records > Courses, open the course record.
  3. Select the Grading tab and open the appropriate academic year.
  4. Mark the appropriate marking columns to be graded.
  5. On the skills tab, mark the appropriate marking columns.
  6. Click OK and Save.
The teacher’s user name may not have rights to Online module.

  2. In Registrar’s Office go to Administration > Set up system security.
  3. Open the user.
  4. In the User Type field, select a type that includes online modules from the dropdown menu.
  5. Select the Online Security tab.
  6. Mark Faculty Access for the Web and link to the appropriate faculty record.
  7. Click Save and Close.
The user may Supervisor rights in Faculty Access for the Web, which gives them access to view all gradebooks, but they cannot access their own gradebook for data entry. You can remove supervisor rights for the user or create a separate username:

  2. In Registrar’s Office go to Administration > Set up system security
  3. Open the user.
  4. Select the User Information tab.
  5. Unmark the FAWEB Supervisor Rights checkbox.
  6. Or in Set up System Security, select to create a new user.
After making any changes, remember to log in as Supervisor and clear the server cache by going to Setup > Server Configuration. You can then select to ClearServer Cache.


Here are a couple alternative scenarios you and your faculty may come across as well:

  3. If Student are missing from the Gradebook or Attendance
