What’s New: K-12 Product Updates For August 22

As we inch closer towards the new school year and the sounds of children once again roaming the halls of schools across the country, it’s time to take a look at What’s New in the August 22 release for Blackbaud’s K-12 Products.


Tomorrow, August 22, brings with it Update 13.09 to all of Blackbaud’s School Management Solutions. As you familiarize yourself with all of the navigational changes we’ve made over this summer, we’re also adding in plenty of new features and highly requested items as well. If you’re a teacher, we’re also making it incredibly easy to see all the things we’ve updated over the summer that’s relevant to you and your needs. You’ll find a new tile with a link to the changes on the My Day homepage or you can visit our blog post right here.


Here's a look at some of the bigger items from this update:

Academics: Share Google Drive Files. When student’s uses Google Drive to submit Google specific files (Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc) for an online assignment, the file is automatically shared with the teachers of the class.


After selecting Attach Files, students should then select Attach from web from Google Drive to pick a Google specific file. Upon doing so, the name of the file is displayed along with the type of file it is and who the file is going to be shared with. Although everyone listed inside of Share with is selected by default, students can select or add specific users here if needed.

Core: User Profile Updates. We’re hoping that you start the academic school year by building a new habit of using the Core profile from People Finder to modify user profile information.


When an administrator uses People Finder to access the Core view of a user’s profile, they now have newly added settings typically found under Edit user profile under Users. In fact, later this Fall, we intend to completely remove the Edit user profile completely.

Extracurricular: Group Finder List Enhancements. Considering that Group Finder is in essence, a list, we’ve enhanced it with additional functionality. Now, users can save their current list, load any previously saved lists, or export the list.
