What’s New: K-12 Product Updates for October 17

It’s release week for Blackbaud’s School Management System so let’s take a look at What’s New for October 17, 2018.


For this month, Update 13.11 features a wide range of added features and updates to many of the K-12 products. Academics and Core once again lead the way with the most content in October, but Enrollment management is close behind with a couple of highly requested features that are finally ready for the spotlight.


Here are details on a few of the bigger updates coming this month:

Academics: Report Card Builder, Enhanced! The new Report Card Builder received a number of new improvements this month.


The first is for our Canadian schools. We’ve added the ability to add Standard and Compulsory codes as columns to the details area of a report card. Add a new column to the Courses/Groups grid and select either Standard code or Compulsory to add the new column.


When working with Legends, you now have the ability to include the Numeric equivalent for each grade translation. Once a grade translation is selected, check the box for Numeric equivalent to include it.


Finally, school now have the option to add test scores to report cards. Expand the Summary section while in Design form and drag the Test Scores field to include them. Managers can also specify which scores to include.

Core: People Finder Search Improvements. Searching with People Finder has been made easier! You can now search by name, student ID, user ID, host ID, or email to better locate the person you’re looking for.


Not only that, it’s now possible to remove the Host ID value from a user’s Contact card as well as delete their photo.

Enrollment management: Download Candidate Profile Attachments. A highly requested feature is finally available! When working with School Forms for candidates or students, admissions managers can now view and download attachments from Files and Forms on the sidebar. These files include any attachments currently on the Candidate Profile. We’ll have more to say on this feature in the future. Stay tuned!

We’ve also been taking the time to highlight some lesser known elements to the help panel over on the K-12 Community blog, then revealed a Teacher-focused project, and finally, showed off how submitting files with Google Drive is making it even easier to share with those that need the file most.
