Tuition Management: NACHA Regulation Updates and New Learning Resources!

While we’ve spoken a lot about Tuition Management over the past month, there’s even more information to share this week. Come have a look!Blackbaud Tuition management has seen a lot of enhancements over the past month or so. We ended 2021 with a bunch of rebranding efforts around the product, updating various field names. Then in early February, we showed off the updated look and feel to the Parent Portal. If you missed it, definitely give it a look!

However, that wasn’t the end of the updates in February. The team continued to work on various projects, which we’ve detailed in the weekly release notes. So, in case you didn’t see them, consider this your BBTM recap!

NACHA Regulation Updates
Recently, Tuition management has been seeing plenty of updates in order to stay compliant with NACHA Regulations. Part of that was to require Account Holder Names when a payer enters in new payment information.

In addition, all new accounts must now be screened to ensure the account is open, active, and can receive ACH transactions prior to a payment being processed. This will be done by sending a file to the receiving institution to confirm the accuracy of the information entered. Account information deemed correct will be processed on the fourth business day and follow the standard remittance process. Any account sent back with a correction or C -Code from the payer’s bank will be voided, the account information will be removed from the system, and the payer will be contacted via email and/or text message, alerting them to the error.
