Deleting budget entries for a short fiscal year

Question

We are changing our fiscal year and unfortunately created a new fiscal year for 12-months that should have been 3-months for our "gap" year. We entered budget information in the first 3 periods and though we could delete the unnecessary periods.  when we try to edit the fiscal year down to 3-months, we receive this error:

'Number of fiscal periods' cannot be changed because a budget exists for this fiscal year.

Has anyone dealt with this error message and have a work-around?

Hi @Jim Hayes , did you get any response to your question above? I have a similar problem. I was thinking about deleting that budget and doing a new one with only the gap year months, but have not proceeded yet.
