New query fields in web view

New

We’ve introduced two new query fields into web view: Address Processing and Consecutive Years Giving Summary.

  • Address Processing fields help you identify the best address for individuals and organizations.
  • Consecutive Years Giving Summary fields help you find constituents who have given gifts in consecutive calendar years.

Consecutive Years Giving Summary is dreamy. Could you provide more information about how the filters on that summary field affect the outcome?

Does Consecutive Years Giving only work for calendar years as stated above? Or can this field be used to identify folks who have given consecutively across fiscal or school years?

I want to be sure I fully understand the logic that underlies how this field calculates. Thanks!

  • It would be great to see real examples with the logic underlies for both fields. Thanks.

Apologies for the delay in response; we’ve had a staffing change.

@Carlene Johnson – You are referring to Consecutive Years Giving, which is located under Summary Information for Summary for Gift. This field processes the same way it does in database view.

After you set your criteria by selecting the appropriate Operator and Value, you can further refine the results by applying filters.

    Example

To identify constituents who have donated for at least three consecutive years, set the criteria to greater than or equal to three years. Then apply a gift date range filter. Starting from a constituent’s most recent gift in that range, the query returns constituents who have given for at least three consecutive years. If the gifts in the date range include a gap year, gifts before the gap year are not counted toward the Consecutive Years Giving total.

Consecutive Years Giving evaluates back‑to‑back calendar years, not fiscal or school years.

    Address Processing fields

Use Address Processing to determine which address a query returns for a constituent. Address Processing applies prioritization rules so queries return the most appropriate single [DS1] address for contact purposes.

    For individuals, you can:

    • Include or exclude seasonal addresses.
    • Prioritize address types, such as Home or Business.
    • Define what the query returns when no address meets the criteria.

    For organizations, you can:

    • Prioritize address types.
    • Define what the query returns when no address is found.

    Example

The following example identifies constituents who have a seasonal address and returns results prioritized by their home address. The results include Name and Address Processing Address in the query output.

    For individual Address Processing options:

    1. Select Include seasonal addresses.
    2. Prioritize the Home address type.
    3. For If no address is found, select Use blank address.

    For organizational Address Processing options:

    1. Prioritize the Home address type.
    2. For If no address is found, select Use blank address.
