Intelligent Tags: Smarter Visibility Controls and Future Roadmap
Fundraisers are surrounded by data—but insight is what drives action.
In Raiser’s Edge NXT, Intelligent Tags help cut through the noise by surfacing meaningful signals about donor behavior, engagement, and opportunity. These tags appear automatically across Constituent records, Lists, Work Center views, and in AI-powered recommendations, helping fundraisers understand who to focus on and why—without relying on manual queries or complex reports.
With our latest release, we’re making Intelligent Tags more powerful, more intentional, and more aligned to how organizations work.
What’s New: Visibility Controls for Intelligent Tags
Every organization has its own strategy, priorities, and fundraising motions. While Intelligent Tags are designed to surface high-value insights, not every signal is equally relevant to every team.
That’s why we’ve introduced new visibility controls for standard Intelligent Tags. Admins can now manage which Intelligent Tags are active in their environment—directly from Settings—so fundraisers see only the insights that align to organizational goals.
We designed these visibility controls to include:
- Centralized control to show or hide individual Intelligent Tags
- Changes propagate automatically for immediate impact
- No data loss—hiding a tag does not remove underlying data
- Consistent behavior across records, lists, analytics, and AI experiences
Visibility controls ensure teams work from a consistent, governed set of insights rather than an overwhelming or misaligned signal set.
What’s Coming Next
These new visibility controls are part of a bigger vision. Intelligent Tags are evolving into the context layer that powers AI across Raiser’s Edge NXT.
Rather than AI working from raw data alone, tags provide interpreted signals that help AI understand what matters and why. As AI assistants, recommendations, and workflows expand, Intelligent Tags will increasingly inform prioritization, recommendations, and in-the-moment context.
You Can Help Shape What Comes Next
We’re working on new standard Intelligent Tag templates that will expand the insight catalog and bring even more actionable signals to everyone using Raiser’s Edge NXT. We want your input to help guide what we build first.
Take a few minutes to vote on Intelligent Tag options: Tell us which tag insights would be most valuable for your organization. Your feedback will directly influence how we prioritize new tag templates and continue building a stronger foundation for AI-powered recommendations and workflows.
Looking Ahead
As the Intelligent Tag catalog expands and AI experiences continue to mature, tags will play an even greater role in connecting data, insight, and action across Raiser’s Edge NXT. By putting control in the hands of admins and clarity in front of fundraisers, we’re building a tagging system that drives smarter fundraising.

Intelligent Tags are enabled by default, evaluated daily, governed through permissions and visibility controls, and excluded from custom tag limits—ensuring powerful insights without added complexity.

This is a good step forward. The constituents whose only tags are ones that we've hidden (because we don't use them) are still showing up in the "Needs Attention" carousel on a fundraiser's Work Center page though. Under "Recommendation" for those constituents, it's now just blank because you can't see the tag that is there now. It would be preferable for those constituents to simply not show up on that "Needs Attention" carousel. Additionally, if you click on the link to "View all constituents with tags," those constituents are included there too, but the "Tags" column is just blank for those constituents. They should be excluded from that list as well.
Will we ever get the ability to create our own custom tags with our own criteria? Honestly, most of the existing tags are not useful for how our organization does business. The tag functionality would be great, however, if we could control the criteria and label. These appear to be nearly the same as business rules in the database view, so it seems like this is feasible.
