Applicants entering in their own information

Hi:

We use blackbaud grantmaking to process funding awards to startup businesses. I was wondering if anyone else has had issues with applicants entering in wrong Tax ID's and their DBA businesses instead of their legal names on the W-9 and if there were any suggestions on how to improve the process. Thank you

  • Hi @Celina Gauthier I see it has been a few days since you posted and no community members have responded with their process. I can ask my team if there are any resources that they can think of!

  • Thank you so much Crystal. That would be helpful.

  • Hi @Celina Gauthier checked with my team and they returned this answer, I hope it is helpful! The best recommendation would be to add additional descriptive text to the online form detailing the requirements for the W-9 documentation to be uploaded.

Hey! We have kind of have a similar issue. Our organization is an invite only, so we actually create the org profile using the Tax ID and we verify if they are a 501©3 before we invite them so this helps us cut down some. However we still have issues when an organization uses a fiscal sponsor, so we have a few upload options for w-9 and IRS letter.

I would also recommend adding as much narrative in the application stating exactly what you want in the tad id field.
