Integrating Digital Membership Card Software with Altru API & Sync Challenges

We are currently working on integrating a digital membership card solution with Blackbaud Altru to enhance our member experience (e.g., QR-based digital cards, mobile wallet support, etc.).

However, we are facing a few challenges during the integration process:

  • Limited clarity around accessing and using Altru APIs (or SKY API compatibility)
  • Real-time synchronization of membership status (active, expired, renewed)
  • Triggering automated workflows when a new membership is purchased
  • Ensuring secure data transfer between systems
  • Handling updates like membership renewals or upgrades

Our goal is to automatically generate and update digital membership cards based on data from Altru.

Has anyone here implemented a similar integration or worked with external membership platforms?
Any guidance, documentation references, or best practices would be greatly appreciated.

  • Having done many integrations between BB and other external solutions (ex. updates/adds/deletes, syncing, etc) there is rarely something that can't be accomplished. While I've done nothing in the Altru space, their api's are extremely similar to the SkyAPI so from that perspective there should be no issues with automating/integrating that portion.

    As for 'membershipanywhere' I could not locate their api doc's without first booking a demo with them (sounds like a sales opportunity for them) but would assume they have a robust restapi framework as well.

    Based on what limited info there is I would guess this would be something fairly easy (yes, that is relative) to do.
