I wanted to report an inconsistency in the Education Management UI and the data returned by the SKY API for a number of our mutual school clients. The support redirected me here.
We use the API to sync course and class data into our platform. Records that are clearly visible in the Blackbaud front end are not being returned by the API, which is preventing us from creating the corresponding courses and classes on our side.
The issue presents in three ways:
1. Classes returned without their parent courses
For several schools, the API returns class records, but the associated course records are not returned at all. Without the parent course, we are unable to create either the course or its classes.
2. Courses returned without their classes
In at least one case the opposite occurs — course records are returned, but no class records are associated with them.
3. Course data missing for one school level only
One client is configured with two schools in Blackbaud — a Middle School and a High School. The API returns courses for the High School as expected, but returns no courses for the Middle School. On a joint call we compared the field-level configuration of the Middle School and High School courses side by side and found no differences between them. The Middle School courses are visible and appear identical in the Blackbaud UI; they simply are not present in the API response.
