The InsideTrack to web view for Raiser’s Edge NXT is a series designed to give you clear, reliable updates (current and forward looking) from our product management team that will help you plan and adapt your processes for web view functionality.
Our September InsideTrack was focused on AI-Guided Fundraising and while we couldn’t address every question during the live discussion, we’ve gathered the most common ones to keep you informed and ready. Attached, you’ll find answers to the questions asked during the session.
If you couldn’t join us live, don’t worry—you can still catch up by registering to watch the recording here.
Now, let’s take a look at the day in the life of utilizing AI to help maximize your efficiency and fundraising. Fundraisers are surrounded by data, but insights are what drive action. In Raiser's Edge NXT, AI-guided capabilities surface fresh insights, creating meaningful signals about who to ask, who needs attention, and what to say next—right where you already work.
We followed “a day in the life” of a fundraiser using AI-guided tools within Raiser’s Edge NXT in our Sept. 22 Inside Track session.
Here's the recap, summed up through five questions.
1. Who Do I Ask, and for How Much?
Every fundraiser starts the day with the same question: Where should I focus next?
Ask Blackbaud AI "which prospects should I prioritize?" and a ranked list comes back—no query, no report. Open any prospect and the full picture is already there: background, wealth, capacity, and giving history. Add an opportunity, and a recommended ask amount comes with it, scored on giving behavior, engagement, and capacity together—not wealth alone.
Try the Prompt Library's Weekly Outreach Priorities prompt: "Who should I reach out to this week, and why?"
This AI prompt does not replace your judgment. True readiness comes from weighing giving behavior, engagement, and capacity together—using your own judgment.
2. Which Relationships Are Going Cold?
Once you determine who to prioritize, the next question is who’s slipping through the cracks. Relationships rarely go cold all at once; the signals are just easy to miss when they’re scattered across records and lists.
Intelligent Tags flag donors who are lapsing, newly capable, or ready to upgrade—and a quick pop-over explains why. Every tag arrives with a recommended engagement strategy, ready to activate in one click. You approve every action; the tag just does the legwork that used to take a morning.
3. What's the Next Step, and What Do I Say?
Knowing who needs attention only helps if it leads to action. Activating a tag creates a scheduled task in your Up Next queue in Work Center, with the timing and channel already suggested—no guessing whether to call, email, or wait. Suggested action plans adapt to what the donor actually does, instead of a fixed cadence for everyone. When it's time to write to a donor, ask the assistant to draft outreach in your voice, then review and send.
4. How Do I Capture What Happened?
What you capture in contact reports sharpens tomorrow's recommendations—it's a cycle, not a one-way report. Looking ahead, AI-assisted contact reports will let you speak your notes from the car and review a drafted summary. Today, the Prompt Library's Post-Meeting Follow-Up Email prompt turns your notes into a polished follow-up email in seconds, using giving history and event context.
Contact reports are in development and subject to change. Base your planning decisions on what's available today. Capture is consent-first: Nothing saves until you review and approve it.
5. Why This Matters: The Work Comes to You
The shift across all four stages of cultivation outlined above is simple: instead of hunting across queries, spreadsheets, and scattered notes, you start with prioritized work already in the places you use every day.
Your records, lists, workflows, and security remain fully in place. AI provides a starting point—you still apply judgment, review recommendations, and lead the relationship. Here's how that pays off:
- Spend less time assembling context. Prioritized lists and full donor profiles are already built when you log in.
- Know who needs you next. Signals explain themselves, so you trust what you're seeing before you act.
- Never start from a blank page. Recommended actions and drafted outreach are ready for your review.
- Your judgment still leads. AI drafts a starting point; you decide what happens next.
Today: you go hunting Rebuild a query to get today's call list. Export to a spreadsheet and hunt across records for context. Try to remember what to say from scattered notes. Type up notes later that night—or not at all. | Now: the work comes to you Your prioritized list is already waiting when you log in. The context is on the record. The prep for your next meeting assembles itself. You speak your notes from the car, and the report drafts itself. |
