Viewing Multi Year Grant Budgets and Actuals in Financial Edge NXT

Hi all,

This might be a long shot, but I wanted to ask about the Budget section within Project IDs in Financial Edge NXT.

The budget view is organized by fiscal year, which works well for our board-approved operating budget. For grant budgets, though, it is less helpful because many grants span multiple fiscal years and do not align with our fiscal year.

Is there a way within the Project view to see the full grant budget, actuals, and encumbrances across multiple fiscal years at once, rather than selecting one fiscal year at a time or running a separate report?

If not, has anyone found a good workaround for viewing a multi-year grant budget against total spending directly within Financial Edge NXT?

Currently you're best option if you've got project budgets using the period range budget function is reports. You can then set the date range there as needed. The tiles dates are hard coded, and if my memory services is similar to how the project record was in DB view as well.

Hi Annie,

The way I’ve approached this in FE is to create a budget scenario and select “Period range” instead of “Fiscal year.” From there, you choose the start and end fiscal periods based on the full grant period, which allows you to build a multi-year budget rather than limiting it to a single fiscal year.

Last I checked, FE allowed a period range of up to 99 periods, which is a little over eight years if you use monthly periods, though I’d confirm the current limit.
