Marking a guest registrant as Will Not Attend - unable to do so.

Hi all,

I have a host and guest registered for an event.

The host I can change to Will not attend but the guest options are only Attended or No Show.

No Show isn't accurate. 

Has anyone come across this and is there a way to make the guest a Will Not Attend??

Hi Liz,
You’re quite right, unfortunately a guest cannot be marked as “will not attend” out of the box. Since “will not attend” is an action taken prior to the event taking place I would normally delete the guest registration, and then just mark the main registrant as “will not attend”. A guest can be deleted by editing the main registration (there is no option to delete guest from their own registration row). I know deleting the guest is not ideal, but it is prior to the event, I think perhaps the thinking was that after the event a no-show is important to record, whereas a guest was never part of your original invitation so perhaps will not attend doesn’t need to be recorded (who knows!)
The reason it can’t be done is that the CRM REGISTRANT table that stores all registrant and guest records contains a constraint that does not allow a guest to be marked as Will not Attend. We’ve seen clients customize this though. If you would like to learn more about it we’d be happy to talk further or  possibly connect you with a client off-line.

I don't think its going to be a major issue but something for our event team to be aware of.

This should be something that is addressed in the product.  We have found this to be a real pain point for our event staff.  Our "work-around" is to delete the sub-registrant from the host and then create a new registration for them.  I believe this is in the idea bank: https://bbcrm.ideas.aha.io/ideas/CRM-I-823. Let's vote for it!
