Register for multiple events

I'm new to Online Express.  Does anyone have a suggestion/work around for a constituent to register for multiple events?

Thanks,

Lisa

Hi Lisa Sampson‍ - Generally the answer is no.  There may be a way around it, but it depends on how you want to track the events in RE and how complicated you are willing to make tracking registrants.  As each OLX event form is connected to one event record, if you are not okay with tracking multiple events in one event record, then this solution will not work for you.  If you are okay with making this complicated for you (and maybe the constituent - depending on how complex the events are to begin with), here's how you may be able to get around the limitations of OLX.

In the combined event record, set the prices as each event registration you are offering (if they are free, leave the amount field blank or $0.00).  In OLX, link the created combined event record into to your event form.  For each "price" (meaning event registration you are offering), you can edit the display name, description, and the max number of registrations available to the constituent to choose; Note, the more registrations a constituent can choose for each event, the more complicated and illogical the remainder of the form will become.  Once the form is filled out and payment processed (if the events are not free), you can download the registrations through OLX as normal.  Note, for every event the constituent has registered for they will have a corresponding participant record in the combined event record.  I would recommend that you test this out on a non-public page of your website first, and see how complex this will be for the user.

Example: You are offering the Monday Learning Session, Tuesday Learning Session, and Wednesday Learning Session on one form.  You have created an event record with each of the days listed in on the "price" tab - luckily your events are free, so no need to list a registration fee amount.  In OLX, you create the form and list the event names as prices, and mark your form as having a free registration.  When John Smith choses one registration on each of the three Learning Sessions available, filled out his information for each price/event (three in total), he will receive an e-confirmation confirming his registrations.  When you download John's registration information into RE, John will have three separate participant records in the event record you previously created.  You can differentiate between the participant records by looking under the "registration fees" tab to see which event John has registered for.

I hope this makes sense.  Let me know if it does not.
  • Thanks, Austen.  Something to think
about.  I am new to OLX so I have zero experience with
this!  Our current system is set-up more like a shopping cart,
where people can “purchase” tickets to the various mini-events
under the umbrella of the larger event.  We then enter the
people manually into the event.  This sounds like it would
work IF we don’t download to the event and we continue to enter
them manually.  As I said, I have zero experience in OLX –
what are your thoughts about doing it this way?  (We’re not
talking thousands of people, it’s usually @100).  We plan on
purchasing NetCommunity next fiscal year so this would be a
    one-time thing.

    Thank you,

    Lisa
