Finding Non-Constituent Relationships

Our team is using the relationships more often to connect non-constituents to organizations and individuals without creating full constituent records for each of them. One question I have is when we are processing a gift, and it happens to come from someone who exists in the database as a non-constituent record, is there any way to have the database search relationship records? (this is something that can be done in the web view). We would love to make that connection up front rather than find the duplicate records later.

    Check contact name ticky box

When you search in db view, there's the check contact name ticky box - this searches the relationships but I believe these individuals would have to be marked as a contact for that organisation.
  • Try this type of Constituent query...  under Constituent>Relationships>Individual

This Individual is The Spouse equals Yes

and This Individual Is A Constituent equals No

I use the above to find non-cons and check for Title 1, Nickname and other data entry standards.
  • Looks like you have your answers on how to Find them which is great.  But question, something to consider -- is that gift from the Org that Individual is affiliated with or from the Individual?  If it is from the Individual, then their non-constituent record should be converted to a constituent record and the gift recorded on the Individual record.  Just sayin'.
