Attribute Clean-Up

For nearly 2 years, our organization has been aggressively cleaning our database.

There are many unnecessary Attributes, which we are deleting.  But there are also Attributes that don't necessarily provide insight but we intend to keep them for historical reasons.

Many Attributes have tables that consist of 20 options (Attribute = Bloch Society; Table Options = 09, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, etc.).

So you will see 1 Constituent who will have 20 Attributes, all Bloch Society, with a particular description.

What I am attempting to do is consolidate all of those into 1, so only 1 Bloch Society Attribute exists on any given Constituent's page, and then change the Attribute Description to "Bloch-Society_Historical-Data."

An approach I tried but I don't think was the right way was first performing Table Clean Up within Config -> Tables and replacing all of the table options with "Bloch-Society_Historical-Data."  While it successfully consolidated the Table Options, it still left me with 20 Attributes per Const., all of them with the Description "Bloch-Society_Historical-Data."

I wonder if I am able to strip the now duplicate Attributes or if there is a different way to approach this.

Please, no comments about whether or not you think we should be consolidating them.  Just advice on if this is logistically possible.  Thanks!

I think you could create a static query, do a global delete of the attribute, and a global add.
  • Wow, I don't know why I didn't think of that.

Going to try it now, thank you!
